The Marketing Director is a critical player in our business and overall brand. This role will work closely with and partner with the Vice President, Marketing to acquire and retain customers, provide thought leadership in areas of testing, contact strategy, marketing investment and analytics. The position has direct ownership of the overall catalog marketing area. Additional responsibilities include: P&L ownership, budgeting and forecasting. The person in this position will develop strong relationships and work cross functionally with the Creative and Merchandising departments. This position reports to the Vice President, Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Recommends and monitors the total annual marketing budget required to deliver revenue and file growth initiatives.
- Achieve annual and 3-Year revenue, profitability, and file growth goals.
- Directs contact strategy and over sees distribution of catalog marketing.
- Ability to create sales and expenses forecast as well as set up a process to re-examine underlying assumptions for inclusion in monthly financial updates.
- Understands brand presence and marketing opportunities.
- Deploys tests and provides background analysis and recommendations after testing to continuously improve the customer experience and grow sales.
- Provides thought leadership and strategic direction in the areas of catalog marketing across the organization.
- Leads, motivates and mentors staff, directing and reviewing output to achieve maximum results.
- Attract, hire and manage a skilled Marketing team.
- Manage outside agencies, partners, and vendors.
- Credit & Loyalty marketing would be a plus.
Requirements
- 7+ years of increasing experience managing a catalog business.
- 4+ years of managing a team of marketing professionals.
- 4 year degree required in business, marketing, advertising or other relevant discipline, MBA preferred.
- Proven track record of leadership and sales growth in a fast paced environment.
- Strong drive for continuous improvement – maximizing growth, accelerating the rate of new customer acquisition and improving profitability.
- An analytical, problem solving and results-driven approach to challenges and opportunities.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
